Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP)

To set up new service with TNMP

Step 1: Consult with TNMP

  • Call TNMP to schedule a meeting with an engineering designer.
  • The designer will assess the site, determine necessary equipment, and discuss potential fees, including Contributions in Aid of Construction (CIAC), if applicable.
  • No work will begin until CIAC payments are made.

Step 2: Prepare the Site

  • If underground service is required, customers must arrange ditching and conduit installation according to TNMP’s specifications.
  • TNMP must inspect the trenching before it is covered.
  • Easements may be required if TNMP infrastructure crosses another landowner’s property.

Step 3: Set Up the Meter

  • The customer is responsible for constructing the meter loop to TNMP standards.
  • The installation must pass both TNMP and any applicable city inspections before service can be activated.

Step 4: Choose a Retail Electric Provider

  • Obtain your ESI ID from TNMP after passing inspection.
  • Select a REP and provide them with your ESI ID to start service.
  • TNMP will install the meter once the REP submits a turn-on order.
